Happy Thanksgiving Lake Zurich!

The holiday season is officially here in Lake Zurich. The bell ringers are out in front of Jewel and Wal-Mart, lights and holiday decorations adorn Deer Park Town Center, Starbucks is pushing its pumpkin spice latte and 93.9 FM (WLIT) has already started playing all Christmas music all the time.

Wait a minute...I said Thanksgiving, not Christmas. What happened to Thanksgiving? What happened to turkey and stuffing and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving? Is it just me or does it seem to you like Christmas is coming earlier this year?

I suppose it could be because my kids no longer bring home construction paper turkeys in the shape of their little hands to signal the Thanksgiving holiday. However, I think the real answer lies in the current state of the economy. Retail stores are predicting dismal sales this year, so artificially lengthening the holiday shopping season is most likely an attempt to boost earnings. If so, I sure hope it works. This economy can use all the boosting it can get!

Now, will you please pass the potatoes? And have a very happy Thanksgiving!

What kind of potatoes do you prefer?!?!?! I even noticed that retailers moved up Halloween this year. Maybe it is because of the sluggish economy? Hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Kelly, I have noticed the "skipping" of Thanksgiving in too many areas myself this year as well. Of course Christmas by some retail stores started in September. Happy Thanksgiving to YOU!!

Hi Kelly...Glad to see you are still up and running.  One more thing for me to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

Our family loves Thanksgiving.  We are all excited to be together.  Jim and I are going to be making turkey favors using candy and cookies.  I'll have to take a photo and blog about them.  It's one of our Thanksgiving Day traditions.

No matter what the stores do, I will not rush the holidays.

Savor each and every one.

Kelly:  Just wondering how your new venture is going.  Started yet ?  Bye the way... even though Thanksgiving is coming this week, and you will probably have turkey... make sure you don't "gobble" your food... LOL  Sorry... it's the only Thanksgiving joke I know.  Take care...

TERESA: Well, for Thanksgiving...they've got to be mashed of course!

GARY: Can we just slow it down a little bit? Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it's relaxed and involves yummy food and family togetherness.

KATE: I agree and I plan to savor this holiday no matter what!

KAREN: You're such a turkey. Sorry, I had to do it. :)
